Why you should map out your book first
Writing a book feels simple: idea – write – publish. 3 easy things but as you dive in it starts to feel more complicated. You need to find the time to write, explain your decision to family and friends and yourself (yourself – worth, talent or ability) and you wonder if you need to reach out for support.
This is why book-mapping can be so useful to you (and save you headaches later). Read on to find out how it can help and what you can do to set it up today.
Why you should map out your book
Book- mapping is a tool that can be used to see your book in the big picture without the overwhelm of the little pieces involved.
When you have this map in front of you, you have focus and clarity. As an entrepreneur, you know how important it is to have these things. The same applies to your book – these two aspects help you know your security.
The book map also keeps you from feeling overwhelmed by the book writing process and the writing stage.
I use a 7 step process for my books – you can get the same process here.
How to map out your book
Mapping out your book is surprisingly easy!
Firstly, start with your goal or impact desire for your book. Next, start with the idea in 3 – 5 sentences. It can get tricky from here so be careful.
Once you have an idea, you need to go deeper with it – fiction stories also need this part. So, write down 5- 10 main points of your idea or the arc of your story. You should also include your introduction and conclusion.
Not sure what it should look like? Here is an example.

Your book map should be fun and easy for you because you should LOVE your idea. You should be so excited about your idea that you are shouting about it from the rooftops.
If not, then something is wrong – I would like to help change that today.
